The Cara Cara is the result of a cross-pollination of a Washington Naval Orange and a Brazilian Bahia Naval Orange, first discovered in Venezuela in 1976 and brought to the U.S. in the 1980s. This is what we call an all-natural hybrid fruit. Red Pomelo. If you're not familiar with Pomelo, you'll have no trouble picking one out at the Market.
A Moro blood orange is intensely flavored, with rich berry notes, very distinct in flavor and slightly bitter (especially if picked early). A Cara Cara is less acidic, significantly sweeter, milder in flavor (though still very flavorful). They have a hint of blackberry flavor or lingonberry flavor, a slight tang. Cara Cara: This variety of orange is a navel. Not very common however is one that is really worthwhile tracking down. As a navel it is a great eating orange and is also very juicy. Tangerine: This citrus is a cross between Mandarin and Orange. The fruit is more Mandarin sized although not as sweet as some mandarin varieties. Cara Cara Navel Oranges have a slightly pink skin that is easy to peel, and flesh ranging from rich orange to dark pink. The interior is sweet with relatively low acid content and few to no seeds. We also grow a variegated Cara Cara with the same characteristics. Sudachi, a Japanese citrus, is a hybrid of a mandarin and papeda, a citrusRosy Red navels and Cara Cara navels have become very popular in recent years due to their delicate pink flesh and sweet low acid flavour. They have a strong orange skin and are not to be confused with Blood Oranges. Mystique is a mandarin orange cross which is seeded, large and juicy with a tighter skin. Available September to October
6- Hamlin Oranges. The Hamlin orange is a type of navel orange that was first grown in Florida. These oranges are smaller than Navel oranges but they have a high amount of juice inside them. These oranges are known for their juicy taste and low acidity.
